Social media provides an opportunity to build your brand, improve your customer service, and increase your sales. The issue is that many businesses are failing to leverage this channel because they do not have a strategy in place to support their social media campaigns.
1. You don't have a clear goal or objective
Defining your goals is the most important thing you can do to improve your social media strategy. What are you trying to accomplish? Do you want to increase your Instagram followers? Do you want to increase your Facebook engagement? Tik Tok following or engagement? Do you want more sales?
If you want to increase brand awareness and drive traffic, your campaign will be different than if you just want people to learn about new products or services.
If you don't have a clear goal or objective, it will be difficult for others to understand what your campaign should look like.
2. Your content is not engaging
You might be surprised at how many people are willing and wanting to spend their time to to listen or read your content. Remember that you're not just creating content for yourself; you want to share it with your audience so they can learn about your company as well with the main goal of your audience receiving value from your posts. People are not as interested in consuming a post if it is all about the creator but rather looking for something they can take away from it. They will gladly share your posts on their own networks if you provide them with enough value through sharing interesting facts, new information, or quality entertainment.
3. You are posting too much
If you think that the more you post, the better your social media strategy will work, think again. The truth is that people don’t like to see a constant stream of posts that have little to no value. They want to see something new, refreshing, and ultimately something valuable that they can take away from.
So, if you have been posting similar content consistently for the last 2 years on instagram, tik tok, facebook, linkedin, consider switching up your content with new images and videos. This will keep your audience engaged and interested.
4. You are not posting enough
In contrast from point number 3, you will not be able to build a following if you do not post content on a regular basis. You must maintain a consistent posting schedule and engage your followers by posting content that is relevant to them. Also take advantage on the different social media platforms. The most important aspect of your social media strategy is that it is designed for sharing, which means that you will be able to expand your audience more easily than with other strategies such as email and phone calls. With that said, posting just to post is not going to cut it. Think about your audience, what is meaningful to them and what you can share that will bring them value.
5. Your posts lack consistency
Consistency is essential when it comes to social media. All of your social media posts should be consistent with your branding and messaging. Your brands messaging here is the main focus. If you've developed an effective social media strategy, you're aware that every aspect of your business must be in sync in order for your efforts to yield the desired results. People will be less likely to engage with your brand if you do not.
You must ensure that each post is relevant and useful to those who see it on their timeline. They follow you for a reason. What is that reason? What value are you bringing to your audience? Structure your posts around that messaging.
6. You don't post at the right time of day
One of the more important things in social media is to understand when to post. Think about your targat audience. When are they on social media? Is it in the morning when they wake up? Or more during the lunch time? Some audiences may be more active at night. You must post at the appropriate time of day so that your message is received by your target audience. If you post during peak hours of your desired audience, people will see it right away and will be able to interact with it easily! This will also get the algorithm to work better for you. They want your content to be seen by the right people. Help the algorithm help you
7. The quality of your content is low
A very common reason why social media strategies are not working is poor content quality. The quality of your content is critical to your success on social media, and if you don't have the right tools, this will cause struggle. If you are savvy and doing content on your own, make sure your audio and your visuals are high quality. We have all seen the video post of someone talking and the wind noise is piercing. What is the result? That post gets swiped away immediately if not faster. Or how about the video that looks grainy or filmed from a camera made in the 90s? Again, swiped away, killing your chance to reach a higher amount of your target audience.
